Can I download songs directly to my mobile device?
How many songs can I download?
You may download up to three songs per week. Each Sunday at 11:01 pm Central Standard Time, your weekly download counter is reset to zero and you can download three more songs for the week. If you have more than one cardholder using the same computer, the browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox) must be closed and reopened before another cardholder can log in.
How will I know how many songs I've downloaded this week?
Your weekly download counter is located at the top of the Freegal site. For example, if the counter says 1/3, then it means of your weekly download limit of 3 songs, you have already downloaded 1 song.
How do I download a song?
When you've found the song you wish to download, click Download Now next to the song. At the prompt, select Save and choose where you want to save the song. If you do not specify a location to which to save the song, you might have difficulty locating it on your computer. If you're not presented with a save prompt, try right-clicking the link and choosing the option to save the link (e.g., Save Target As, Save Link As, Download Linked File, etc). This will let you choose where to save your song. If you're not sure about your default download location, find out before you download a song in order to save time and frustration.
Music is downloaded in the MP3 format and once downloaded, it can be played on your computer, transferred to a mobile device that plays MP3s or burned to a CD.
NOTE: Any time you click Download Now, even if you decide to cancel it, the download will count towards your weekly allotment.
Can I download a whole album?
Songs are available for download on an individual basis only. Over time, you can eventually download all the songs on an album.
