Collection Overview

Tulsa City-County Library was designated a selective federal depository in 1963 and a full state depository in 1978. As such, the library currently receives 30 percent of United States Government publications produced by the Government Printing Office and all of the state publications deposited with the Oklahoma Publications Clearinghouse each year.

These publications are received in print, microfiche, CD-ROM, and on the World Wide Web. In addition, the library is a repository for Tulsa County and City of Tulsa publications.

Accessing the Collections

The Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) offers the public free access to Federal Government information in print, microform and electronic formats. As a participant in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), TCCL follows the principle of free access governing use of depository materials as provided in Section 1911 of Title 44, United States Code.

All of the federal, state, and local publications part of the Research Center collections. During the renovation of the Central Library the Government Documents Collection is housed at the Annex. Most federal and state publications are available for checkout and can be routed to a branch library of choice. For assistance accessing these collections phone the Documents Department (918-549-7430) or the AskUs Hotline (918-549-7323).

TCCL's federal publications are included in the library's online catalog. Library patrons can search other library's collections for federal materials published after 1976 by using WorldCat or the Catalog of Government Publications. Materials from other library's can be requested directly from a fellow depository library or through InterLibrary Loan. Please check with the government documents staff for further details.

Access to city, county, and state publications is currently available by authoring agency and title only.  A searchable database of Oklahoma publications is available online.  Librarians are available to aid in locating materials in these areas.

Public access to FDLP and State of Oklahoma information on the Internet and in other electronic formats is free of charge, though printing fees do apply. The use of library computers to access electronic formats is defined in the Library's Computer Use Policy (http://www.tulsalibrary.org/about/computers). Tulsa City-County Library does use filtering software on all of its workstations and WiFi network.
